An Introduction to Our Church
It's not easy to introduce our church, because our church is not fundamentally a building or a set of programs. Our church is a congregation of people — a community with a shared vision and a shared faith in Jesus Christ. We could describe Grace Reformed Baptist Church as a community of upward-looking people and forward-looking people.
An Upward-Looking People
If you were to visit us, you would discover that we are ordinary people like you. You would meet carpenters, sales people, lawyers, and full-time mothers. We struggle in the trials of life. We are far from perfect. You would discover, however, that we're a community of faith — that we're an "upward-looking people".
We don't "stick our heads in the sand" in order to avoid the hard
realities of life. Instead, we believe that our God, the God who sits
on the throne of the universe, loved us so much that he gave his only
Son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins. We've committed ourselves to
Jesus Christ — and our faith empowers us to live our lives with joy,
optimism, and purpose. We'd love to tell you more about God's
plan of salvation.
We are confident that God speaks to us in the pages of the Bible. Therefore each of us strives to be "a man or woman of the Book." We're not paralyzed by the uncertainties of the times, because we take God's commandments as our stepping-stones. You will hear the Word of God proclaimed and applied meaningfully to your life at Grace Reformed Baptist Church. We invite you to meet our pastors.
A Forward-Looking People
As our name indicates, we are a Reformed Baptist church. "Reformed" points to our embrace of many of the great Biblical teachings emphasized during the Protestant Reformation in the 16th century, including the teachings that salvation is by the grace of God alone through faith alone in Christ alone and that the Bible alone in the authoritative voice of God today. We are glad to worship God as God and welcome the fact that he is in control of everything in the universe, including our salvation.
We are a Baptist church. As such, we believe that the ordinance of baptism is to be administered only to those who make credible professions of faith in Christ. Consequently, the membership of the church consists only of those who have made — and are still making — credible professions of faith. A detailed statement of what we believe can be found in the 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith.
As Reformed Christians, we will not negotiate our foundational beliefs, but we are not content merely to be correct in what we believe. As we see it, Reformed Christians must always be reforming our lives to reflect what we believe. We wish to become like Jesus Christ in thought, word, and deed — and we have a long way to go.
A Practical Religion
We look upon Christianity as a very practical religion. Therefore, we are a "forward-looking people": we set our eyes on the finish line and run the race of faith that is set before us. We look for the day when Jesus will return from heaven and transform our bodies to be like his glorious body, for this will complete our salvation and happiness.
As we look upward to God and look forward to what he'll do in our lives, we seek to live for him daily and worship him together every week as a church. We seek to encourage one another and spend time together in Christian love.
We invite you to join us in this incredible journey of faith. We've listed our service times and directions to our church on our site. And if there's any way we can be of assistance to you, please let us know.
We hope to see you soon!
