Gary Hendrix

Gary Hendrix

Gary Hendrix has been an elder at GRBC since 1970, when he was called to serve as the church's pastor while he was still studying at Piedmont Bible College. For over 3 decades, Pastor Hendrix has faithfully served as the primary preacher of the church.

Charles Fortner

Charles Fortner

Charles Fortner graduated from Columbia Bible College and served as a pastor in Baltimore before coming to GRBC. He became the church's second elder in 1979. In addition to occasional preaching and teaching, Pastor Fortner oversees much of the church's administration, pastor oversight, visitation and outreach ministries.

Stu Johnston

Stu Johnston

Stu Johnston graduated from Trinity Ministerial Academy in 1984. In 1992, after moving from New York to North Carolina, he was ordained as the church's third elder. Pastor Johnston's ministries include preaching, Sunday School teaching, and counseling.

Andy Dunkerton

Andy Dunkerton

Andy Dunkerton became GRBC's fourth elder in 2001, having received his primary theological education through the Reformed Baptist School of Theology in Grand Rapids. In addition to preaching on a regular basis, Pastor Dunkerton's ministries include Sunday School administration, general pastoral care, and oversight of several other church ministries.

Bob Prentice

Bob Prentice

Bob Prentice graduated from Bob Jones University in 1979. He and his family moved to the area in 1992 and he has served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. In 2009, Bob was called as a lay elder and became GRBC's fifth pastor. His ministries include college and career age Sunday School and conferences, Elon University outreach, nursing home ministry, and counseling.

Stephen Byrd

Stephen Byrd

In 2012 Stephen Byrd was added to the eldership as a lay pastor. His ministries include working with the College and Young Professionals Sunday School, Elon Campus Ministry, and counseling. He and his wife Lori have four children. He serves as an associate professor in special education at Elon University.
